A SB project successfully completed in
2002 involved a registered client – a leading US Brand of golf apparel – who was
seeking the best Licensee to handle their Brand exclusively throughout Europe.
The project involved first identifying 14 potential European Licensees and
inviting each to submit a written proposal. The 14 proposals were then assessed
and reduced to six short-listed European Licensees. Each of the six was then
visited, in the four different European countries where they operated.
Extensive meetings were conducted with the senior management of each
short-listed European Licensee, with particular care taken over the matters of
market compatibility and finance. The six were reduced to three recommended
European Licensees, with a report presented in person at a US meeting of the
registered client’s Board of Directors.
The US registered client then visited the three recommended European
Licensees and made a selection. Due to the significant care taken originally
over compatibility, together with the extensive marketing and financial research
conducted before signing the contract, both parties hailed the project as a
major business success.

SB Project FrameworkA typical project
lasts 3 - 6 months. The SB Registered Client, who may be a
Brand or a Distributor, contacts SB with the brief.
SB assesses the brief and searches the current database. Depending on
the detail of the brief, the current SB database may or may not
contain the appropriate number of relevant parties.
If the database does not contain sufficient relevant parties who match the
brief, SB headhunts and also recommends advertising, whenever
appropriate, to attract the relevant parties. Once identified, SB
visits all relevant parties and assesses compatibility and financial resources.
SB then creates a short-list of up to three recommended parties.
SB agrees with all parties that SBRs may be exchanged. The SB
Registered Client is introduced to the SB recommended parties. The
Client and the party sign their new Distribution Contract, and the
SB project is completed. |
